Heading back to DC!

Heading back to DC!

Group classes in Silver Spring, MD starting Wednesday, March 25th at Blue Heron Wellness!  Classes in the District coming soon! This has been the most non-linear year of my life.  Eleven months ago, I packed up my things and headed back to my hometown (Brooklyn, NY).  I decided to give teaching full time a try.  It’s been an interesting, windy, twisty road – I found new yoga communities, reconnected with old ones and taught and practiced a ton!  I got to fall in love with my own practice all over again and really treasure my teaching experiences.  Then out of the blue, the universe gave me a big ol’ boot in the butt (life happens that way sometimes) and now I find myself headed back to DC – something I swore I would never do!  Never say never!!   I’m so incredibly lucky – both to have had this time in Brooklyn and to have met so many amazing people in the yoga community here, and to have connections and opportunities in the DC and Maryland yoga communities as well.  I am super excited to announce that I will be teaching on Wednesday nights at Blue Heron Wellness in Silver Spring, MD starting March 25th, 2015 and will hopefully be adding classes in the District shortly thereafter (the details are still being worked out).  Stay tuned for more details as I have them.   My last class at Mala Yoga will be on Tuesday, February 24th 2015 (that’s next week – hope to see you there!) and my last class at Third Root will be Thursday, March 19th.  Brooklyn yogis – I will miss...
Moving to New York- and a Special Offer!

Moving to New York- and a Special Offer!

Alternative titles for this post: “Ch-ch-ch-changes” or “Deep breaths…or possibly hyperventilating” In a few weeks I will be saying goodbye to the District of Columbia (and Maryland and Virginia) to move back home to Brooklyn, NY!  I grew up in Brooklyn, so I’m thrilled to be going back.  I will, of course, miss my yoga students and all the wonderful friends and family that I’ve met here over the last 6+ years. So what does this mean for Supportive Yoga?  I’m so glad you asked.  One of the most amazing things about this move is that I am going to be able to concentrate on yoga full time.  That means starting in April 2014 I will be teaching more studio classes and accepting more private clients.  If you are in the area, I’d love to connect with you, so I’d like to extend my New York City area Supportive Yoga readers a special offer! For the months of April and May, 2014, private or semi-private lessons with me with be only $50/hour. That’s my “friends and family” rate and more than 30% off my usual base rate.  That rate will be good for any private yoga lessons you buy and schedule within those months!  I like to think of this as a “getting to know you” sale.  Send me an email at annie@supportiveyoga.com and we can get started! Private lessons are offered a time and place convenient to you: your home, place of business, apartment gym etc.  You will get individualized attention, custom sequences tailored to your needs and body and an opportunity to play around with poses that...
Minor Site Changes and Coming Soon

Minor Site Changes and Coming Soon

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I just wanted to let you know about some minor site changes I made to help make the content a little more easily accessible and also to let you know that I added some limited, hand selected advertising and a few affiliate links. I’ve created a few new pages that will help you find my content more easily.  Rather than having to scroll through all of my blog posts (though you are certainly welcome to do that!) to find a particular pose or sequence I’ve written about, you can now go to my title Yoga Poses page or my Sequences page for a handy list of all the asana and sequence posts I’ve written thus far.  I will do my best to keep those pages updated as I write new posts as well. I’m going to try to keep the advertising to a minimum since I know it can get annoying really quickly and only choose products that I use or would recommend anyways (as I’ve been doing since the inception of the blog). If you click on the affiliate links and buy a product or sign up for a program, I get a small commission, which will help keep the proverbial lights on around here.  You’ll see some small ads on the right sidebar of the site and I’ve also grouped the ads on my new Resources page. I’m hoping to spend more time working on developing content for the site in the coming months so be on the lookout for more asana and sequence posts as well as a new series or two including Yoga...
